In addition to her daily work of overseeing the agency’s operations, Laura maintains regular contact with many of Carolina Hope’s clients, researches new ways that Carolina Hope can assist orphans, and conducts occasional adoption home studies.

History with the Agency
Laura, the adoptive mother of two daughters, has been involved with adoptions for more than 19 years. Prior to founding Carolina Hope in 1998, Laura worked with the South Carolina Department of Social Services and then another private adoption agency. She has provided consistent leadership and vision for Carolina Hope, often through very uncertain and difficult times in international adoptions. Along with her husband, Raymond W. Godwin, Laura is the co-author of The Complete Adoption Book. Laura is the current president of the South Carolina Association of Licensed Adoption Agencies.

Interests
Laura loves spending time with her husband and two daughters. She is a voracious reader of books and journals, and she enjoys cooking and a little gardening. She is involved in her church, where she teaches children’s Sunday school and has volunteered her time with the youth ministry.
